01Troubleshooting guide

Bobbin thread keeps breaking: check the bobbin path

This fault concerns the thread coming from below the fabric, not the thread passing through the needle. A damaged, wrongly wound or badly seated bobbin can make the lower thread snag and snap.

03Step

Check in this order

  1. 01
    Step 1

Switch off the machine, raise the needle fully and remove the fabric before opening the bobbin area.

  2. 02
    Step 2

Take out the bobbin and confirm that its class, material and dimensions match the exact machine manual; replace it if cracked, warped or unevenly wound.

  3. 03
    Step 3

Clean only the accessible lint and thread scraps described in the manual, then reinstall the bobbin in the stated direction and pull the thread through every slot and tension spring.

  4. 04
    Step 4

Rethread the upper path with the presser foot raised, fit a suitable new needle and test slowly on a double layer of plain woven fabric.

04

What should restore normal sewing

The bobbin should unwind in the specified direction with an even, gentle pull and remain seated while sewing.

A fresh correctly wound bobbin is the safest test when the old one has loose loops, overfilling or a damaged rim.
