01Troubleshooting guide
Sew over a thick denim seam without jamming the machine
A sudden height change can tilt the presser foot, shorten the stitch and bend the needle. Prepare the hump instead of forcing the motor.
02
Most likely causes
- The needle is too fine, worn or unsuitable for dense woven fabric.
- The presser foot tilts sharply when its front reaches the folded seam.
- The stitch is too short and the fabric is being pulled from behind.
03Step
Check in this order
- 01Step 1
Fit a new denim/jeans needle in the size recommended for the fabric and machine.
- 02Step 2
Reduce bulk where the project allows and test the same number of layers on scrap.
- 03Step 3
Stop with the needle down before the hump and place a levelling tool or folded scrap behind the foot.
- 04Step 4
Turn the handwheel through the highest point or sew at very low speed, then move the support in front as the foot descends.
04
What should restore normal sewing
The foot should remain close to level and the needle should enter without bending.
Use a slightly longer straight stitch and let the feed dogs move the layers.
